What Happens During a Root Canal?
- Bell will numb the affected tooth with local anesthesia before placing a dental dam over the area to prevent moisture from reaching the tooth.
- He will create a small opening at the top of the tooth and use special instruments to navigate the interior.
- Infected and dead tissue will be removed from the canals and pulp chamber.
- Using a biocompatible material known as gutta-percha, he will fill the pulp chamber to keep the tooth structurally sound.
- A dental filling will seal the tooth off from potential bacteria and infection before a custom crown is put in place for better protection.
